Workstep brings proven technology to the healthcare sector

Johan Velting is the director and owner of Workstep B.V., a Frisian company that earned its

beard in horticulture.

Now he is applying that knowledge to a new market: healthcare!

We originally started by developing an electric transporter for nurseries.

User-friendly, ergonomic, and built for intensive daily use.

That machine has amply proven itself in practice, and at some point

we asked ourselves: why wouldn't this work in healthcare?

Velting did not make the move to healthcare institutions alone.

“We collaborated with a university to thoroughly understand where the pain points in healthcare lie.

What are the logistical challenges on the shop floor? What do employees run into?

Based on that analysis, we further developed our solution.” Compact solution;

The result is a compact electric transporter weighing 45 kilos that can pull up to 500 kilos.

“That might sound like a contradiction, but that is precisely the strength of this device.

It is small enough for narrow corridors and elevators in healthcare facilities, yet powerful enough to take over heavy work.

And it is completely maintenance-free.”

For Velting, the ergonomic aspect is at least as important as the technical specifications. “Healthcare workers carry a heavy physical burden.

With the Workstep, you remove part of that load.

That makes the work not only lighter, but also safer and ultimately more effective.”

Specific requirements;

Velting sees it as an advantage that the product is developed and produced in Friesland.

“We can act quickly.

If a healthcare institution has specific requirements, we are close by and can respond to what is needed.” By now, various hospitals and healthcare institutions use the Workstep daily, some for years and 24 hours a day.

“Those institutions are willing to serve as references. That speaks volumes about the trust

that has been built up.”

For healthcare institutions considering cost control and workload, Velting views the

Workstep as a practical choice.

“It is an investment that pays for itself, through reduced physical downtime, more efficient logistics, and a

safer working environment.”

Workstep can be found at the Zorg & Facility

exhibition in Hall 8, stand F085.
